About me

I'm David Dacruz, a Senior Ruby on Rails engineer from Portugal with over a decade of experience building and scaling backend systems for startups around the world. I've spent my career in fully remote, fast moving environments where I've worn many hats: architect, team lead, and even co founder of a Web3 startup. What drives me is the challenge of keeping things simple behind the scenes, whether that's modernizing a Rails monolith, reducing cloud costs, or building internal tools that make other engineers' lives easier. I'm not the type who just ships features and moves on, I care deeply about the foundation, because I know that's what lets a product grow without falling apart. I work best when I have autonomy, clear outcomes, and a team that values thoughtful engineering over quick fixes.
